First buyer have to to pay a security deposit of 1500 rupees which is completely refundable. It was announced by Mr. Mukesh Ambani, CEO of JIO. It is a feature phone which will support 4g Volte.

The Jio Phone will be available starting August 15 for beta programme, for testing. Jio Phone bookings will start on August 24 for the public, both in online and offline store. Booking of JIO phone is availablein MyJio app, jio.com or from an offline Jio store near you. Those who pre-book the handset will start receiving their order in September when the phone is available. The company plans to deliver 5 million units each week.

According to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani JIO phone is free. But the user have to a security payment of Rs. 1,500, which is refundable after three years. Regarding the Rs. 1,500 security deposit, he had said at the AGM, "The security deposit is necessary to avoid any potential misuse of data."
